The N64 Controller Was Fine And You Know It
Since it apparently is still popular to toss hate at things of the past, be it from real and legitimate reasons or complete nonsense, I guess it was inevitable that the cool jerks kids would find their way to the Nintendo 64 controller. The article makes some very good points about the controller and I can’t help but agreeing with it, at least for the most part.
The Nintendo 64 controller was, indeed, quite different when it came and already back in the day the same tired remarks and jokes were tossed around on the playgrounds and in the video games magazines of yore. “Who’s it designed for, people with three arms?” was the common one, which is still in fashion to use now, it would seem. Personally I never had a problem with the somewhat unorthodox layout of the controller and I still think it’s quite comfortable to hold and use.
The thing I will gladly remark upon regarding the Nintendo 64 controller that I would say is a valid complaint, is the tendency to wear out the joystick at a rate that is faster than acceptable. Again, in my opinion. It can be that it comes down to how you take care of it and how brutal you are with it, but by and large it really does get worn out a bit too fast.
Otherwise, I’d say it’s a good controller. Works well, does the job and makes games playable.
